The PRONAGDES (National Program for Solid Waste
Management) launched in 1993, is the keystone of national solid waste
policy in Tunisia.The program is based on the principles of “pollutant –
payer” and the “producer – recuperator” in order to deal with
the management of the various types of solid waste (collection,
processing, recycling). PRONAGDES answers thus a new vision of waste.
The
main objectives of the program are:
-
to establish the bases of a management adapted by type
of waste, adapted to the Tunisian context;
-
to study, conceive, carry out and manage the central
processing units of waste;
-
to rehabilitate the old sites of not controlled
discharges
-
to take part the sector deprived in the system of
management of waste with adoption installations;
-
to promote the selective sorting and the valorization
of waste by Eco-lef the public system of resumption and valorization
of packaging wastes.
