Tunis , March 31, 2008 (TunisiaOnline) --The Tunisia Rally 2008 which constitutes the first African leg of the World Cup of Raid- Rallies, will gather this year some 1000 participants, 350 vehicles, 3 planes, and 3 helicopters , as well as an impressive logistic organization to ensure the success of this important international sportive event.

This year's event is also due to cross into Libya 's desert, and bodes well for a fascinating race thanks to its highly technical mountain tracks, and long desert stretches.

Another novelty is that this year's rally has opened up to standard automobile vehicles as well as motorcycles whose pilots now have their own cup dubbed the “Enduro Cup”.

Moreover it has been announced that all participation and technical assistance fees have been considerably reduced in order to attract a graeter number of competitors, regardless of their motoring category.

For those who like open spaces, a competition called ‘Desert tracking ‘ will borrow the same tracks as those used by the rally , and will reward the most regular standard 4 wheel drive vehicles for a fee half as that of the official rally.

Every 80 kilometres , a refuelling post will be available and a GPS navigation kit is optional on all vehicles for added security.
