Tunisia Way

The Virtual University of Tunis (UVT) has, in the long run, to concretize a project of an open and remote formation centered basically on the exploitation of the possibilities offered by ICT and covering a planned share for initial training, continuous training, and lifelong training.

Creation

The creation of the VUT, by decree n°112 / 02 of January28, 2002, lies within the scope of the policy of modernization of the higher education and its opening to all Tunisians. It testifies to the development of ICT in Tunisia and attests the adaptation of higher education to these technologies as well as its insertion in the society and economy knowledge.

Objectives

• To ensure and generalize remote teaching;
• To federate initiatives related to educational technologies ;
• To work towards the emergence of a numerical pedagogy;
• To support a culture of permanent training in an environment centered on knowledge and innovation;
• To reconsider the articulation between work and training;
• To answer the challenges of the growing number of students in higher education, by gradually relieving the priority tracks in the university institutions. Training at a distance is expected to cover 20% of the contents by 2006-2007;
