Fauna:
It is mainly Saharan and varies according to the
biotopes which the park shelters. 26 species of mammals one indexed.
One finds thus, the Dorcas gazelle (only ongulé of the area), the sand
fox, the wildcat, the pale hare, small the gerboise or, the goundi.
Among the various reptiles, there are the whip-tail, the monitor of the
desert, the viper with horns and several grass snakes. The many
avifauna counts approximately 90 species, among which, the sirli of the
desert, the crested cochevis, splendid the courvite Isabelle or the
bustard will houbara, which profit from a particular program of
conservation. But one should not forget the not fewer reptiles and
Amphibians; approximately 26 raised species one. Thus, in the slits of
the rocks live whips it tail and agamous desert. And, in the plains one
finds the monitor of the desert and various lizards. But the park is
also the habitat of many vipers, the viper of sands or that of the
pyramids and, several scorpions; but one can admire also there splendid
butterflies of which some are very rare.
Cultural heritage
 Since
the Neolithic era, there is more than 10.000 years, the man left his
traces to Sidi Toui. Flints cut out of tools were found a little
everywhere on the hills. In the whole of the Solid mass of Sidi Toui
still ruins ancient, as well Berber, as Roman or Arab are. One
particularly raises the presence of several marabouts who constitute a
major reason for visit of the national park. Meadows of 16 marabouts
were indexed and are visited Thursday by the faithful ones, but not
only. Thus, principal the course arranged daN the park, and the old
course of the marabout. The most important marabouts are: the marabout
Sidi Toui, on the top highest, not far from the site of écomusée,
arranged in 1993, and the marabout of Retila, in the extreme South-west
of the park, or Sidi El Ferjani. These marabouts, with the mystical
past, are, for the majority, very old. Until the years 1950, a festival
of the camel was organized in the area of the national park. To 7 km in
the North-East of the main entrance of the national park the small
agglomeration of Sidi Toui is, comprising an National guard and customs
house. One écomusée equipped was arranged within the park in an old
rehabilitated building. The exposure which it shelters wants not only
teaching, but also cultural, presenting all the inheritance of the
area. Outside, of the enclosures of acclimatization allow to bring
closer certain species with the glance to the visitors.
