Introduction

Tunisia
shelters today 8 national parks, 16 natural reserves and more than 250
wetlands. In order to reinforce the safeguarding of the local biodiversity, two
new national parks are in the course of creation: Jebel Zagouhan (2000 ha) and
Jebel Orbata (3000 ha), which shelters already a natural reserve. New natural
reserves are also in the course of installation.
It is the forest Code
promulgated in 1966 and remelted into 1988 which constitutes the basic legal
tool regarding : conservation of the natural environment in Tunisia and
creation of the national parks. Each national park is specific from its
geographical location, its fauna and its flora, its biological diversity and
paysagistic and also by its history, at the origin of the richness of its
cultural heritage and naturalness. These spaces represent varied ecosystems of
the country, with regard to the richness of Tunisia. The access to the parks is
subjected to an prior approval. The request must be carried out from the DGF or
of the CRDA of the area concerned.
