Deserted village
Old Mides is all but abandoned, just a cafe or two persists. The
streets are accessible, and a few houses still stand to allow you a
glimpse into what life must have been before the road and the tourists
first came here.
A lake out here???

On the road to Mides, there is decent-sized cyan lake. From where I
saw, there was no indications of dams, but I assume there must be.
Nevertheless, it is filled with local water. Out here on the border of
Sahara.
HOTELS AND ALTERNATIVES
There are two camping grounds in town. They are basic, but with
friendly staff. If you want a hotel for the night, go to Tamerza (6
km). Little, there are a few basic cafes. Go to Tamerza for better
eating.
CHANGE MONEY
Nothing. Try to do it in Tamerza, but don't be surprised if the hotels
won't do this for non-residents. In such a case, exchange money in Tozeur.
TRANSPORT
No quick forms of getting away from here. Donkey rides for tourists to
Tamerza, but apart from that you might have to resort to hitching.
