Islands of Zembra and Zembretta

Located administratively at the level of the Governorship of Nabeul, it park is in fact on the open sea the Mediterranean, accessible by the port from El Haouaria or that of Sidi Daoud, closest. It is the first national park creates in Tunisia by decree n° 77-340 of April 1st, 1977, classified Réserve of the Biosphere, by UNESCO, the same year.

The park covering a surface of 16.488 ha and comprising three protection zones integral, fact part of the chain of Orbata-Bou-hedma of the Eastern Southern Saharian Atlas and, belonged to the landscape of the subtropical steppes with Acacia. The culminating point of the jebel Bou-Hedma reaches 840 meters.

Located in the governorship of Bizerte, in the plain of Mateur, to 75 km in the North of Tunis, the national park covers a surface of 12.600 ha. It includes three principal ecosystems: the jebel, which culminate with 155 meters, the marshes which cover approximately 30 km ² and the lake of approximately 90 km ². The park is an important wetland for the avifauna.

Attached to the governorship of Kébili, delegation of Douz, the Saharan national park of Jebil is located at approximately 80 km in the South of Douz, and at meadows of 100 km of the town of Kébili. It belongs to Cherkhats de Glissia and Zaafrane. It covers a surface of Saharan courses and of great erg approximately 150.000 ha directed.

The National park of El Feïdja

The park is located at the extreme North-West of Tunisia, 49 km in the North-West of Jendouba, 17 km in the North-West of Ghardimaou, on the road of Ain Soltane. It belongs to the governorship of Jendouba and covers a surface of 2.632 ha. Its creation was officialized by the decree n° 90-907 of June 4th, 1990. The national park represents the forest best preserved mountains of Kroumirie.

sidi_toui Belonging to the landscape of the steppes of the Eastern Sahara, the park of Sidi Toui, located at the North of the natural area of Ouara, is to approximately 50 km in the South of Ben Guerdane and to 20 km of the North-western border of Libya. In addition, it is to approximately 150 km hardly, of the splendid island of Jerba and the Peninsula of Zarzis.

Introduction

Tunisia shelters today 8 national parks, 16 natural reserves and more than 250 wetlands. In order to reinforce the safeguarding of the local biodiversity, two new national parks are in the course of creation: Jebel Zagouhan (2000 ha) and Jebel Orbata (3000 ha), which shelters already a natural reserve. New natural reserves are also in the course of installation.

Located in the Governorship of Ben Arous, in the South-west of the golf of Tunis, 18 km of the capital, near the town of Hammam-lif. The national park created by decree n° 87-282 of February 17th, 1987, covers a surface of 1.939 ha. The site overhangs the north-eastern littoral and constitutes the termination of the mountainous chain of the Tunisian Dorsal.

chambi01 Located at the level of the governorship of Kasserine, the national park of Chambi covers 6.723 ha. It was created by decree n° 80-1607 of December 18th, 1980, and protects the culminating point from Tunisia, belonging to the solid mass of the Dorsal and, which reaches 1544 meters. The park is localized to 17 km in the East of Kasserine, 35 km in the North of Feriana and 50 km in the South of Thala.
