Tunisia Way

Handball is a very popular sport in Tunisia probably only second to football and we hosted the 2005 world championships of this sport.
Tunisia did well in the competition but lost out to spain the eventual winners of the competition. The final position was 4th overall so come olympic time this could be a sport in which Tunisia could feature for the medals.

The club system for handball in Tunisia is like the club system in coutries such as spain with the large football teams being an umbrealla organisation for a number of sports teams for example Esperance have a handball team football team and basketball team. The most famous Tunsian player is Wissem Hmam who was the World cup high scorer and you can see his face on advertisments on buildings around Tunisia.
